They loved learning "Senorita." The song is pretty difficult so it was basically a fill in the blank kind of thing, but I had them learn the chorus. At the end of class I showed this video, and they seemed to like it. The coteacher in my morning class (younger lady) enjoyed the lesson.

In my last class the coteacher (older guy) said the video was "too sexual" and that I shouldn't show it anymore. What do you think?

Teacher, what does it mean when he says, "Fellas, goodnight... ladies, goodmorning?"

The girls caught on to it and had a good laugh. The boys were just pretending to sleep... Confused

I wouldn't show it. This week I've been doing Britney's Everytime with some classes. I finish it by showing them a video of her performing it on SNL instead of the MV. Actually I showed a grade 3 HS class the MV, but they're 18 years old and there's no co-teacher.

It's not like they don't download stuff like that on their class computers all the time, but you don't really want your students going around talking about 'sexy video' the FT shows.

Hey that video presents a good role model - the Asian dude in the band...

Plus, you can turn it into a culture lesson and explain how to dress and act really sexy like Latinas, who are so turned on by white RnB posers...

How come every thread you start has to do with "Is this too sexual for my students?" or some variation thereof?

Hey, how come you never have anything useful to add? Always some snarky personal attack on the OP. It gets old after a while...

And this is the first thread I've started, on this topic, so get your head out of your ass. And if you want to go back and try to find my posts to back up your hypothesis, feel free because I'm not going to respond to you again.

People like you are why Dave's is becoming a cesspool.

nomad-ish: They wanted to learn Sexy Back but I told them it would be too tough--they had a hard enough time with this one.

anyway-- I don't like his music either, but I gotta play to the crowd here. They were interested to learn that Senorita is a Spanish word.

In the end, I found a performance he did on the Ellen show, so problem solved.

Well, you did start the one about attractive body types, or whatever. Wink

That's a good song, though probably not good for class. I'm impressed if your students are interested in, and can understand, hip-hop. "Cry me a River" might be a decent JT song to use.
