Hi,

I'm going through the process of trying to set up a swing dancing class. [I'm trying to find a way to do it legally, of course, so if you have any suggestions on how to go about this (I'm on an E2 visa), I'd love that.]

But, I mostly wanted to post here because I was wondering whether there might be any interest in swing dance lessons from people on this board. Basically trying to see if there's enough interest to jump through the hoops to set up the class.

I taught at a swing dance school back home, and now that I'm no longer teaching dance, I miss it. And I love it; I love swing dancing myself, and I love to watch others discover how much fun it is.

Seoul has a large swing dance scene, so there's lots of great dancing, but only classes in Korean so far. If you'd be potentially interested in swing dance classes in English, or bilingual English/Korean swing dance classes, let me know by posting here or PMing me. I'm not looking to make money from this, I just really like teaching dance, so classes will likely be fairly cheap.

The classes would probably be a progression from triple swing to lindy hop.

Edited to add that no background of any kind dance is needed, and you won't need a partner to sign up.

I'm interested, but it would have to depend on the time and place.

Dang, if only you were teaching ballroom dancing.

I had a few friends take swing dance back hin high school. They had a great time and it looked really fun. Plus I like the movie Swing Kids.

Wow, it looks like there is enough interest for a small class. OK, I'll look into how to set this thing up legally, and I'll post/PM info to all of you if I can do it.

It won't if I can possibly help it. Heh. Actually, it's not common for a swing dance venue/classes to turn into a covert pick up spot. A social thing, yes, but not a let's hook up with others thing.

Oh, I haven't started the paperwork or anything yet.. I've just been looking into what it would take, and I think it can be done, but I didn't really want to start looking into it too much until I knew that there was some interest. I'm going to see how quickly it can be set up, now though, since it seems that there are enough people who'd want to learn. I'll post info here as soon as I have it (expected date by which it should be cool to start, or whatever).
