he's a really bright guy, and most americans probably agree with him on the issues. the only problem is that the guy's a stiff, and listening to him speak is almost painful (kerry-esque). the dems won't go down that road again because they're tired of getting slapped around by idiots with personality.

I never thought he was. He's not a stand-up comedian, but who needs that in a president.

I think he got stuck with that label by the media and couldn't find a way to shake it without looking like a fool, and it ended up playing a role in his defeat.

I've respected him ever since I first became aware of him. The country would have been in a whole lot better shape had he won in '00. I'm sure history will record that moment as a turning point (for the bad) in US history.

the guy is as stiff as it gets, and you cannot win the US presidency these days without keeping up with your opponent in terms of personality and likeability. good evidence of that is the last two elections - especially bush vs gore in 2000 when al should have won handily. i agree the country would be in a lot better shape now had al won back then, but the dems need to learn from their mistakes so they do not make them again. people like al gore should be working high cabinet positions, not be seeking election.

This is a sad commentary on modern politics--the power of the media. If you can't project well in a 10 second sound byte, the other fella will win, even if he's a dolt from Texas.

And people criticize Korea for liking appearance over substance. Rolling Eyes

it is sad, but it's just human nature. and this is true about politics pretty much everywhere, not just the states. imo, if you truly emotionally invest yourself in politics, one of three things will happen: you'll become a hateful facist lunatic, a flaky socialist yuppie, or you'll maintain your senses and become a depressed moderate that is saddened by it all. in the end you have to ask yourself - is my emotional investment really worth the return?
