Any ideas anyone? I am leaving Korea for a few months next year. But I want to come back to my job. It is pretty good given what else is out there.

Any ideas on how to get someone to replace me for that time? Has anyone else done it?

Anyone?

Thanks.

How many teachers are at your school? Maybe you could leave a month before another teacher. Then, take a one month vacation and replace him or her when you return.

Search the Jobs Wanted ads of various ESL websites out there, you might find some people only looking for short-term work or part-time work.
Also, place a Jobs Offered ad specifying that the job will only be available for a certain period of time and you'd be surprised at how many responses you'll get - my school recently had to find a replacement for 1 month and got 8 replies to an advertisment, so it's possible to do it that way.
You should also claim a small recruiting bonus from your school if you do line up a replacement Wink

Its really at the discretion of your school since they'd be 'illegally' hiring a temporary replacement teacher.

Your school is the best one to talk it over with.. I don't know of anyone off-hand who left in the middle of their contract for a couple months and came back.

Usually they finish out the entire one-year contract.. go home for a month or two.. and organize it with their employer to sign an additional contract for when they come back.

Kangnamdragons is best if you are planning to leave immediately after your contract.. you can just come back and replace whoever the teacher is who finishes after you.
