I hear this referenced all the time, and I'm thinking of going up and buying one at the start of the month. Is there a specific vendor you'd recommend buying from? What should I get?

Are you refering to 400k for the computer or 400k for the the system (computer, monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers)?

A 400k system is pretty entry level stuff - P4 or Pentium D (depending on where you go and if you bargin), 80 gig HDD, 1 gig RAM, DVD and onboard sound/video.

400k for the computer alone will get you into a core2duo, 1 gig RAM, 320gig HDD, DVD burner and OK video card (Nvida GT7x00).

I found the best pricing at the Son-in Plaza (across the rail yard from Yongsan station). It is the place with the big Gigatech sign on it.

2nd best pricing was in the terminal building (the big blue one across the rail yard from the station).

3rd choice is the I'Park mall in the same building as the station (upstairs).

I saw that thread--it started out strong but then just degenerated into an argument about depreciation value of electronics. I guess my question is, I know there will be lots of options for cheap computers at Yongsan, so what should I be getting for my 400k won? I just would like a basic system with monitor.

Yeah, I should read more carefully. Sorry bout that! I skimmed and then clicked on that other thread.

So how does this compare with a deal you'll get in Yongsan?
