Bosses make decisions that are good for them, without reference to anyone elses lives, arrangements or what is practical. Its hard to explain the logistical problems of doing things properly and on time here, to someone who doesn't know korea: they just can't understand what the hold-up is.
WTF it sounds almost as haphazard and dumb as my boss sending me to Osaka on a Saturday, "DUH".

Nearly as bad as my boss that forgot about the 60,000 won E-2 Visa fee! He also booked me on a flight back to Korea for 12.30pm the same day. The immigration oficial was an arsehole. He deliberately took his time once the 60,000 won had been wired to the consulate's account. I left the consulate 40 minutes before my flight. I got to Fuokoka airport with 10 minutes to spare!! Not one Korean can explain to me why they leave things so last minute.

I was supposed to leave korea on the 5th of November. Had my tickets to leave, plans on the other side and everything. TODAY my boss calls the immigration office to find out when my visa expires. I told her to do this two months ago and she told me that I have to leave the country on the day stamped in my visa...the 5th. TODAY she called, and they said that I don't have to leave until the day on my immigration card....the 9th. Somy boss has arranged for me to work an extra week. One more week teaching, have to rework all my tickets, hotels etc. and I have to spend more money drinking to keep myself half sane in this ******* hellhole.
And I was having a great week....

uhm... why can't you just say no?

Losing severence for the sake of a week might be a little hard to deal with.

You mean "bad bosses" do that.
I've worked maybe 50 jobs in my life...have had three good bosses, and two of them were at the same job.

What makes you think you will even get your severence pay?

I would say 80% of the people I know teaching in Hagwons here in Korea did not get their severence/bonus pay.

Odds are against you.
