I really like the city I am in now. But, in 3 or years, the city will merge with a few others to form a metro area.
So, maybe in a few years, I might try Busan.
I am also thinking about ATL back in the United States of Anxiety.
Fantasy-wise, I might try Abu Dubai.
Or Monrovia (Liberia)
or Belize.
Or Barcelona/Madrid.
Maybe Saigon. |

I'm still considering Chiang Mai, but I just returned from Himachal Pradesh, specifically McCleodganj, just above Dharamshala, and I'm pretty hooked.
The weather is fab, it is tucked in the mountains over looking a beautiful valley, and it is the home of H.H. Dalai Lama and a lot of Buddhist Tibetans and Hindu and Muslim Indians. The food is great- the only food I love more than Thai is Indian.
Problem is that even Indians that aren't from the state of Himachal Pradesh cannot buy property there, let alone westerners. Maybe it will end up being Chiang Mai after all, will lengthy visits to McCleodganj. Such choices we are forced to make. |

I lived in NYC from 1998-2000. Two and a half years.
Yeah, time flew by there, and my travel bug was quenched. You could just get on the subway and feel like you were arriving in a different country by going to their respective neighborhoods. Jobs were great too!
Wish the weather was better though, but same could be said for Seoul. |
Thinking back now, Budapest was a great choice for the TESOL certificate! I didn't stay either (although it was my original intention), mostly because wages were US$200-300/month at the time, and after coming from Korea where it was US$2,000, it just didn't seem worth it. Much easier to take wages FROM Korea, and just hangout in Eastern Europe instead!
Regarding the commie bar, if you're thinking of a place near rozsadomb on the buda side, in a cellar, the name is Marxim.... and I believe that it was Lenin roughing up the suspect...
Unfortunately BP is no longer cheap (compared to western europe it's still cheap-ish), and things probably cost 4-5 times what they did then. It's still a cool city though if you don't pick up on the surliness of many of its inhabitants, which you probably wont if you dont speak the language.
Unfortunately, the independent theatres all closed years ago... |

| All good info on Budapest, though I'm sad to hear all the independent movie theaters are gone. I'm now definitely going to be living there for a month! |

I have a list of possibilities...
Makati/Palawan/Philippines
Honolulu/Los Angeles/Las Vegas
Japan/Taiwan |
Well, I believe that I will spend the next five years in the Chinese speaking world Taiwan/Hong Kong/ Mainland China. I will apply for an MBA program in Taipei and then see if I can get a job after I graduate. I am looking to settle down in Asia and live here for the next ten years. Maybe I can work my way up to a high paying job in Hong Kong or Mainland China. |

I am looking to spend a month in Europe next summer. I am thinking about Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria. Has anyone traveled around Bulgaria? |

Yep, I'd like to be living in either Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, or Osaka. Any of those would be ideal.
If I wasn't able to stay in Japan, probably Shanghai would be an interesting other place.
If it were to be the United States somehow, then Hawaii if affordable would be incredible. Being that that probably wouldn't happen anytime in my lifetime, California/Nevada or Florida would be other halfway decent choices. |

I'm busy finishing degrees and diplomas (even a mandarin fluency certificate!) but I do plan to get out of Toronto and live in:
Ulaan Bataar/Darhan
Tokyo
Mumbai
I've been to all of the cities, but never lived more than 3 months in them.
