They arrive in Phuket for a 9-day stay on Nov.2.

What should they be paying to stay at a resort, in baht? Should they pre-book? Is Karon beach good?

What activities should be on their itinery?

Thanks for any experienced info you can share!

I took my mom and brother to Patong Beach.

Karon Beach looked much more relaxed, probably more suitable for you parents. Im not sure what they can do for itinerary stuff, they can find that on their own, lots of people offering a multitude of things to do all over the place.

We stayed at the Patong Merlin and paid about 50 dollars a night. (not sure in baht)

Here's a beauty for less than 50 bucks a night: http://www.asiatravel.com/thailand/centralkaronbeach/index.html

Perhaps you should book them a place online first.....

www.planetholiday.com

or try www.travelasia.com as it looks like planet holiday is now planet rip off.

Hope they have fun!

thanks! they are staying at some place off Karon beach, in the hills above the beach, said it was about 70/night including breakfast. Personally, I'm all about the 20/night places, don't think it's worth it to stay in the swankier places.

For some reason, the prices go up in november, which is the rainy season from what I've read. Anyone know what that's about?

One beach past Karon beach is Kata beach, even more relaxing.

The "Let's Go" guide book is a must for budget travelers. Get one. It's a shame they don't have a Korean one as I never buy Lonely Planet if Let's Go is available.
