I've just been told by my co that I will be expected to attend a 2-day "cultural program" in Changwon on the 7th and 8th of November. It would seem, that it's basically a 2-day all expenses paid jolly for the FT's in the province.

Does anyone know what's in-store or if they ran one last year etc?

Cheers.

See my post. Feel free to put an X by my name on the list if I don't show up. I'd quite frankly rather be teaching.

I just hope it isn't 8 people per 2-bed hotel room like my last Korean trip. Someone had better tell them that we can't sleep on the floor.

Do you want a couple of noisy, heavy smokers to come in at 1.00am to continue their drinking in your hotel room? Then you'd better hope that BS Dos and I aren't your roommates.

You're sounding a little bitter these days, YBS. I admit the trip certainly will be Koreanized and we might have to work at making it fun, but I would certainly like to run into you as you are one of the best posters on Daves. Recognize the effort they are making to give us a bit of recreation together and make the best of it. I admit I don't drink or smoke and like a sport unpopular in the West, but I try to see everyone they way they see themselves.
So cheer up buddy, your future roomate may hacking your empty beerbottles with you.

Should YBS turn up then I'm afraid it'll have to be incommunicado.

If you want to converse with him, then it'll have to be through moi I'm afraid. I'll be easy enough to spot though. Just look out for the looser in a red Dave's ESHell style frillly dress, wearing wonky clogs and a badly fitting ginger toupee. More than likely dribbling somewhere near the bar. Horizontally...probably.

I'm just a bit stressed out with so much going on and keeping me busy at our *school* that I really don't have any desire to waste time in a waegook parade. And I guess I'd rather take my stress out on semi-anonymous idiots at HQ than my students.

Here's something else to consider: the KOTESOL conference is coming up this weekend. I'm really hoping I can make it despite being so busy. Imagine if the province could simply pay my fare to that instead of wasting taxpayers' money dragging me along on a pointless trip. Just not klogical enough, I suppose.
