About a decade ago bowling was all the rage in Korea. As you can probably guess, the koreans really dressed up for it! Their own shoes, custom made balls, league-like T's and so on. Problem was they failed to equate beer with this "sport."

Then,...came golf.

I went to a sports rec building in Samsung dong last weekend and bowled a few frames with friends, but still,....no beer, no food, no smoking.

Does anyone know where some lanes are (in Seoul) that recognize the relationship that drinks and bowling enjoy on other shores?
Itaewon maybe?

Could be a good biz idea, but it seems that Koreans just take their bowling too seriously!

There are thousands of bowling alleys across Seoul. Just look for 볼링장. They are usually decorated with inflatable bowling pins.

A couple summers ago all my Korean friends got serious about bowling and started going out six times a week.

go to hannam bowling alley below hannam market. Buy your beer at the market (best selection in the city) and take it into the bowling alley...bingo!

Not having beer and cigarettes at the bowling alley would explain why bowling lost all of it's luster. Might be the same for golf too. In Korea, you just have to make it where beer and soju drinking and smoking are allowed and proper or the activity won't stay popular with the men for long. It really is a drugs and alcohol kind of place though you don't have to over indulge if you value your health and well being.

Too bad they're not smoking wacky tobacco roll your own cigarettes. Smile
