As of 2005, however, the rate of hepatitis B among adults over 20 was still high, from three to seven percent. The Korean Association for the Study of the Liver and the National Statistical Office estimate that some 2.20 to 3.76 million people suffer from the disease in Korea. |

The vaccination is administered in 2 shots, each several months apart. I got the first 1 but missed the 2nd. I guess I'm not properly immunised... |

what are the symptoms? It would appear to be a fairly harmless disease on the face of it... |

You get drunk on like a beer. That's the bad thing about it. |

In England, 3 shots are recommended, followed by a tester as it doesn't always work. It's worth doing. |

Twinrex(spl) Get it done within about 6 weeks. Just might need another one a year after but usually not. |

I asked a Dr about Twinrix (I think that's the correct spelling) when I first came here and he'd never heard of it and didn't think it was possible to have a vaccine for both Hep. A and B.
Has anyone had a Hep A or B shot while in Korea? |

I'm in the same boat as you, but my doctor in Canada said that one shot would be enough to protect you for a couple of years. The two shots within six months is supposed to provide "lifetime" (25-year) protection. |

Get the shots! The Hep A shot is given and then 6 months later you get the last course. The B is given once and then again 2 months later.
There is none for C, and that's the deadly one. My friend died of C in Ecuador last year.
You know you have Hep if you get dizzy alot and just want to sleep. You usually have chronic blood stot eyes too. It's bad news. |

The root cause of Hep A stems from bunghole matter making its way to your mouth, think about that people.
The next time you're overwhelmed with a pervasive and highly pungent stench of diarrhea, perhaps its best to not assume its rotten kimchee.
When in doubt dunk your utensil in hot water ... |

There are several different ways to get the Hep B vacine ... The one which I did had 3 injections ... and then a blood test and possible followup vacine at 12 months ... It is possible to get the injections in a relatively short timeframe ... as well as slightly spread out .... I know I did mine inside a month before I came but I don't have my vacination record with me to check what the exact timeframes were ...
It is recommended for people coming to Korea ... because of the relatively high level in the population ... and not too hard to organise ...
