Rat Poison
It's The Law - Rat Poison Must Be Added to Milk
In 1932, Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations required that
400 units of rat poison be added to every quart of milk sold
in America.
I receive over 2,000 letters each day, but one letter (from
Dr. John Unruh [email protected]), written in jest, contained a
remarkable fact.
"Dear Robert, I do not know how you find this stuff but you
continue to pile on the evidence as to why milk equals rat
poison. Keep up the good work."
Dear Dr. Unruh,
Your "rat-poison" metaphor is quite close to the truth.
A brochure produced by the Ministry of Environment in
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, reveals the rat-posion
link:
"SAFE AND SENSIBLE PEST CONTROL"
The brochure represents a series of "safe and sensible" pest
control measures, according to the Canadian Health Minister.
Canadian health officials believe that Vitamin D-3 is the
most effective and ecologically sound method of dealing with
rat and mouse infestation.
Information on milk cartons reveal that two ingredients fill
the container: Milk and Vitamin D-3. Vitamin D-3 is used to
kill rats! Why is it added to milk for our children to drink
in the name of good health?
According to the Canadian brochure, products containing
Vitamin D-3 (calciferol) kill by vitamin overdose after 3-4
days. The Vitamin D-3 actually mobilizes excessive amounts
of calcium from an animal's bones.
And you thought that Vitamin D-3 in milk helped to absorb
calcium. Another dairy industry myth!

When I was working during college, a 14 year old boy came into my store and had shirt that said "Not milk." The picture was of a woman with something white around her mouth. That kid had awesome parents. |

oh my god vitamins are being put into the precious bodily fluids of children!!!
Won't somebody think of the... oh wait. I'm going to hazard a guess here and say that while some amount of vitamin D-3 is good (hence the name vitamin) an overdose in a small ratlike body could causes death.
So if you were to drink an amount of milk out of a container of milk that was larger than your house you might die too. |

I'm not a massive dairy fan. Something about consuming fermented bovine secretions is not quite right. The way I see it, only baby cows should drink milk |

Agreed. But the vitamin D really isn't the problem, and I've heard that most people probably don't get enough because we spend too much time indoors ... or live in cold climates where there isn't enough sunlight all year round.
Vitamin D2 is the vegan form of D. There's some on my shelf, and I have to remember to take it some time. |

i think its very interesting that humans are the only species that drink the milk of another species. go the soy milk!
Milk is also very high in cholesterol, in fact, all animal products are. We've been duped for many years about milks supposed importance, when really, its not all that good for us. |

I think it's proper to live without drinking milk after you are finished suckling your mothers tit, but cow milk just is so pleasant to drink late at night as well as adding to dry cereal in the morning. I thought about using water, but water just doesn't have the magic of creamy white fattening milk.
There is nothing like cookies and milk before bedtime some 2 hours after smoking a fat jibby. What good milk and cookie memories I have.
I understand milk has formaldehyde in it too so it's unhealthy. I understand it had lots of artery clogging cholesterol in it too.
Drinking fat cow milk is not healthy, but it's such a strong craving late at night, especially after you've had your fill of beer, soju, and fried foods. |

Is that interesting? The list of things that "humans are the only species" to do is pretty extensive. Should we give up all the activities that are unique to humans?
Besides, what is the reason other species don't drink another species' milk? Because they decided it's not good for them? Ever seen an animal expert guy on TV feeding a baby tiger milk from a bottle? I'm guessing he didn't milk a tigress to get that milk. |

Well, quite a few people here have claimed veganism is "unnatural" and argued that eating animals is OK because other animals do it. However, it's very hard to argue that any adult mammal, or any mammal past the age of weaning, has a biological need for milk and will die without it.
I'll try to dig up some links later ... |
