There seems to be a lot in the news recently about bribery and corruption in Korea. First there was fake diplomas by Koreans, next bribery with ex Ssangyong Executives and it goes on and on and on. I am sure this country is getting worse in terms of bribery and corruption. Some information below this week about Bribery and Corruption from a news site.

US Seeks Forfeiture of Korean-American in Massive Scandal
WASHINGTON _ The U.S. federal prosecution is seeking to confiscate some 30 billion won ($32 million) of assets held by a Korean-American suspected of a massive financial scandal in Seoul, a South Korean official said Monday.

`Top Tax Official Received W60 Million From Junior'
The nation's top tax official faces criminal investigation on suspicion of receiving 60 million won from a subordinate. Jeon Goon-pyo, commissioner of the National Tax Service (NTS) denied the allegation but his jailed junior was reported to have ..

Lee Myung-baks Former Business Partner Hid W30 Billion in Swiss Bank
Kim Kyung-jun, a former business partner of presidential candidate Lee Myung-bak of the main opposition Grand National Party (GNP), was reported to have laundered 30 billion won and deposited the money in Swiss bank accounts.

It is still surprising how much news there is about fake degrees, bribery and corruption at the highest levels of political figures within Korea. It is just shocking really.

Not sure if corruption has gotten worse. More is being uncovered (a drop in the bucket). What's the point of uncovering it, if all you have to do is show up in court in a wheelchair, and you get off scott free.
The Chinese have the right idea. They don't care about wheelchairs, a bullet to the head.

I think hurling oneself from a high-rise is still the preferred method in Korea?

Oh, c'mon, do you really need to feign surprise in order to make your point?

Don't forget that CEO who was released from prison because the community decided it needed his strong leadership. Wait, weren't there two CEOs that happened to?

But does this really mean corruption is on the rise? Maybe just busting corruption is improving.
