Well i cant live without my sportbikes and am planning to bring about 5k to korea to put a down payment or one or even to buy an older one.

Im not particularly looking for motorcycle rider specific advice but

how do i get a motorcycle loan in Korea?

What is the process for getting a license? (i plan on getting a 600cc-1000cc )

are japanese brand motorcycles very expensive?

also are there any good twisty canyon roads near seoul?

Has anyone out there seen a bunch of crazy motorcycle riders in their full head to toe leather gear? (are there sportrider communities out there?)

can a motorcycle go between cars in korea?

Out here in california theres a great canyon motorcycle community and the drivers are considerate enough to watch out for us and the canyons are in good enough condition for us to go through them at a pace of less than 100mph. But i would hate to be the only person out in korea there doing something like that. I dunno i just dont know what the cultural norm is and dont want to find out that its a koreans pet peeve to have a motorcycle clipping past them or something (do people in korea respect a motorcycles zone of saftey?)... so any input or insight would be greatly appreciated as to how being on a motorcycle is such a big part of my life.

are there any race tracks out there?

*LOL i really dont want any lectures on safety

Thanks.

1. Foreigner? Good luck.
2. Are you licensed in your home country? Your country may have a reciprocal licensing agreement with Korea. In any case, you'll probably have to take a test. The moto road test is quite difficult.
3. Yes, Japanese bikes are quite expensive here.
4. I've heard of some good twisties in the hills north of Seoul. Canyons, maybe not so much.
5. Yes. I am one of those crazy riders in full head-to-toe leather.
6. Legally no, but anywhere a motorcycle can fit it can go. Sidewalks are also fair game.
7. Koreans pay no attention ANYONE while driving.
8. I don't know of any race tracks, but that doesn't mean there are none.

Check out "The Official Motorcycle/Scooter Thread" in this forum.

To clarify:

Sidewalks are illegal, but rarely enforced.
You need to have a Korean DL with a motorcycle endorsement OR a valid license and International license from your home country, both have to have the MC endorsement.
Korea drivers suck ass and you have to consider every single one to be an idiot.
I read somewhere here the race tracks are only for cars, no MC rider has yet to find one for his MC.

Nice. Where? According to the other thread, some veteran riders couldn't find one.

a little birdie told me you can go racing here

http://www.tbracingpark.com/main.asp

As for the other questions... obviously it's possible. Look on google earth - there are a lot of nice roads to motorbike on. Seoul, though, is not a great starting point. If you really want to get into your biking... get a job in Chungju.

i am looking for help as well:

1. have a vtx1800cc back home in the states, how much would it cost to get it licensed here? i heard that the shipping is about $400, but tax and license could be ery expensive?

2. if 1 is not an option, then how much would it cost to get a cruiser here say with 1500cc? either new or used would be fine - i am not a harley fan, so japanese cruisers would be perfect, unless harley is cheaper here.

thanks
