For all you film buffs The Chungmuro Film Festival debuts tomorrow with a 4 million dollar budget. I know because I helped subtitle some of the films.
The focus this first year is Australian film, Charlie Chaplain and director John Boorman for all who is interested.
The website is great and provides a good roundup of all the films on offer.
Hope to see you there!

Will some (or all) of the films be shown at that theater located right at the Chungmuro subway station? |

Wow! Having just browsed the film program, I am duly impressed (esp. by the Lindsay Anderson and Chaplin stuff). Not to mention Suspiria and Deliverance! Needless to say I was squealing like a pig in delight. Unfortunately I am not overly familiar with the area. Are the theaters handy to the subway station? The map on the site isn't up and running yet. |

I'm also interested in hearing more details about the venues. Also, is it a good idea to book online, in advance? I'm up for a bit of pre-boozing Suspiria. If the OP checks back, please let me know what I need to do, I'm a buffoon. |

Well as it turns out things are running very smoothly for the festival. I saw Max Max 2 last night and it was from one of the original film reels! Also saw a documentary about Cannes and one of the film makers did a talk before the movie.
I urge everyone to attend this festival to make sure it continues into next year. An international film festival is exactly what Seoul needs. It was really heart warming to see the old Ajumas watching Mad Max.
The easiest way to attend is to go to the Chungmu Art Hall. It is 30m from Sindang station exit 8 (I think). From there you can get a free shuttle bus to any of the cinemas. The staff are very helpful and most can speak English and are very happy to help the foreigners. Films are just $5 each. |

In another thread, I recall someone saying they would be showing Brazil here. Does that mean we'll soon be able to find copies of Brazil with Korean subtitles soon? I'd like to watch that with my girlfriend and I can't find it anywhere with subtitles. |

interesting... I make a post about an international film festival in Seoul and it is instantly shoved off the board with posts such as 'do Koreans Dong Chim each other'.
Really shows.. |
