I hate it when I walk into a club and the environment sucks because of too many fat people. Don't get me wrong, I love fat people, but too many makes it hard to get to the bar.

I know this isn't a very PC answer but of course in general fat people harm the environment more than skinnier people...

*They consume more and lot so of it is very labour and land-intensive stuff - the more they consume the more needs to be produced and the more transportation is needed and the more field area is needed to grow crops, often in stressed environmental areas...

*they take up more room - bigger housing is needed taking up more land, bigger seats are needed on planes, trains,etc meaning more transportation must be used. even bigger cars are being designed to accomodate such girth....

Of course skinnier people are not perfect either and have just as much responsibility to conserve the damage they are doing to the environment around them...

If an alien landed on the earth and saw all the fat people, they may assume we're fattening them up for the others to consume. :p

Kinda like fattening a cow or pig,.

There's actually a group, sort of an offshoot of Raelians, that believe that humans were seeded here by aliens, and that Earth is sort of a big corral. The aliens are waiting until enough of us are fat and juicy, then they'll sweep down and harvest most of us for an intergalactic barbecue. Perhaps that's why we're, as a race, getting fatter. The plan is in motion.

I don't think methane destroys the ozone layer. That's chlorofluorocarbons. It is a greenhouse gas, though.

You know, if scientists could find a way to make fuel from human fat obtained through liposuction, there might be much less of a fuss about gas prices. In fact, McDonald's might be seen as an essential part of our future way of life if that were the case. The people that they say "Oh, he has a condition that makes him that size" could be paid to eat and store fuel.

Of course, also in that case, the US would still have cheaper gas, and also be the primary exporter of human fuel next to Canada and maybe Samoa. The kids who eat junk food and play computer games all day might actually be considered worthwile. It may change our whole concept of consumption.
