You know, I've been humbled. My face is a continuous scowl, as if I'm disgusted with my lack of understanding. I keep my head down, not wanting to be noticed. I apologize a lot. I feel a child, like I'm always willing to learn, and always open to my mentor country. Then I go home and slug the wall.

I'm wondering if it's that simple, or stupid, being humble in another country. Should you be humble or just accept everything? If you don't accept everything, you're apt to get enraged, at times, or over-assert yourself. But I feel at times there's a sense of superiority the West offers. For some reason we're much more methodical and systematic. Reasoning in Asia is full of too many loopholes.

But I'm thinking, the only way to really stay on equal terms with these people is to be humble, and to act as if you're completely ignorant. You have to be humble to live in another culture, but I feel a sort of tug-of-war in this regard, since sometimes I feel as if the host country feels as if they 'are' superior.

I guess they are if I don't speak their language. But is this all a culture is judged by? By the fact you can or cannot speak their language? How do you judge this difference?

Or, perhaps, open-minded and tolerant. Or it really is possible that you and Asia don't get along.

Well not knowing the language certainly does my head in.

Sitting in a PC bang with a Korean friend becomes a total mindfuck not knowing if the people 2 seats down are taking the piss out of everything I say.......

or maybe that was just the effects from the coffee I drank today Idea
