Anyone catch this movie via the modern miracle of bit.torrent? Basically, it's a movie about an extremely dirty joke/shaggy dog story. The joke is about a guy trying to sell his family act to an agent. The guy goes on to describe a series of disgusting acts, both bodily and sexually, his family performs on each other and the family pooch. The stunned, incredulous agent can only ask "what do you call this act?" To which the guy answers "Why, the Aristocrats!"
The joke goes way back to the vaudeville days... a kind of joke comedians tell each other but never do on stage. It's a bit like ER staff or cops who handle sex crimes. They have to valve stress and behind closed doors they don't valve it in the most socially acceptable ways.
Anyway, once you can get past the horror of the joke, it's freaking funny. Not so much because of what they're describing but the way they describe it. The humor arises from the juxtaposition of a slick sales pitch and, say, bestiality.
A Penn Jillette production, no less.
Best line:
And here's the kicker. The grandmother is dead. |

I watched it. It was amusing but my girlfriend tuned out when there were about 20 minutes left. I ended up wanting to see more of some people and less of others. Still, it was pretty interesting. |

I think that movie is highly dependent on what you find vulgar and disgusting. So, though I had high expectations going into that movie, I just was not impressed. Bob Saget was good, Drew Carey had the flourish at the end, and Gilbert Godfrey had the best delivery, but other than that, there are only so many combinations of human bodily fluids, incest, bestiality, and necrophilia you can come up with. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. |

The movie, or at least reviewers looking for a good story, kind of misrepresent the joke in that the joke isn't quite as widely used in the comedy field as the movie/reviewers would lead one to believe. It's more of a hold over from the vaudeville days that a few comedians still tell in private. But as one comedian noted, some reviewers have made it seem like there's some secret society of comedians all plotting world domination via a sick joke.
Jillette I think noted that notion kind of helped sell tickets but when it came right down to it, it's more of a historical curiosity than a living meme in the comedy world. |

I just watched this.
Mostly..... LAME.
Occasionaly amusing.
MOSTLY smug silly cunㅈs thinking they're clever when they're not. At the beginning I was looking forward to finding out what the hell this joke was. Then you find out. It's a rubbish joke.
That's kind of THEIR point, because it makes them feel cleverer and more 'in' than 'civilians'. But it makes them look dumb and smug. And I must say, with a few exceptions, the comedians were horrific examples of humanity. Disgusting filthy greasy bsartards. Not because of what they said, but because of their looks. Horrible ugly gromlins most of them.
When I want to hear a crap joke about kiddie-fiddlin, bestiality, rape, incest, domestic abuse, heresy, scatology, murder and necrophilia I want it to come from a non-creepy looking person. Not those shady looking 'comics' in this movie.
Oh and before anyone claims that I "Didn't get it", I did. I got it. It's just lame. They try and pull you in with a 'you can be a member of our secret comic club if you get it and aren't offended!!!!!!...' line. But they don't get me. Coz they suck. And they're scary looking barstuards. I suspect at least 30% of the cast want to rape 9 year olds. The rest want to siht on them.

I agree with you a good bit here. It reminds me a lot of Bob Saget's horrid stand-up show I saw on HBO a month ago. He was relying totally on shock value and when you take it too far it just becomes disgusting and annoying. I'd much rather watch an old Simpsons episode, Fawlty Towers or something in that vein instead of The Aristocrats. |

I really enjoyed it. There's some superb twisted variations on there. I really liked the guy who told it in the style of Christopher Walken. The mime artist was pretty good as well. |

Watched it. Thought it was crap. How they managed to stretch it into a film I have no idea. I have no problem with vulgar and down right disgusting but this was just sheet. |

I especially liked the part where these talking heads are all sat round prattling on about how Gilbert Gottfried's telling of 'the joke' at a Friars Club roast was like some sort transcendental, spiritual experience.
What a pack of cunts. |

I was finding the whole thing most suprisingly unfunny - until the mime came on. then I strained my insufficiently warmed-up funny muscle. |
