The U.S. Department of Homeland Security estimates the number of illegal Korean residents in the U.S. is around 250,000, the Korean Embassy in the U.S. said Tuesday.
The embassy said in an audit for the National Assembly that Korea ranks seventh on the list of illegal residents in the U.S., which includes Mexico, Honduras and the Philippines at the top.
According to the embassy, the annual household income for Korean-Americans is US$62,000 on average, with 50 percent of them college graduates.... |

Once again, a mountain out of a molehill.
Chosun Ilbo must be struggling to find news stories. |

I thought it was the Mexicans who were the most notorious for being illegal aliens. Those who do 3D jobs.
I understand there are about 1 million Koreans in America with most being legal with visas to do business. Not to defend Korea or say this is hogwash, there just aren't that many Koreans as compared to other nationalities to have enough of them to break the immigration laws.
I did always wonder how many foreigners are actually legal who are doing business in America. Like all those Chinese and Indians operating businesses right and left everywhere you go. |

250,000 is a very low number by U.S. standards.
Mexico is something like 30 million illegal. If you go to New York City, almost every customer service person is illegal, and almost NONE of them are Korean.
250,000 is probably only the population of about one-third of legal Koreans of Koreantown in Los Angeles. |

Yes but compare it to the biatching and complaining about the number of illegal teachers in Korea.
1000 illegal teachers in a nation of 50,000,000?? (I have no idea of the actual number but it can't be very large) A Mount Everest out of an ant hill. |
