Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World (Paperback)
by Jack Weatherford

Temujin favored Christianity over Buddhism and Islam because the Mongols were ardent carnivores and fermented mare's milk drinkers while Buddhists could not eat meat and Muslims could not drink alchohol. Further, Christians drank alcohol during their religious ceremonies.

But Xenu hands out candy, so by Temujin's logic, his is the One True Religion.

I'd just like to add that that book is actually a pretty good read and well worth the time.

Genghis Khan was passionately anti-civilization. Radical Islam would probably have suited him better in that regard. Interestingly, it was the havoc wreaked upon the highly accomplished Islamic civilization of the time by the Mongols that catapulted it head first into a dark age from which it has never recovered -- even to this day. It's not that much of a stretch to posit a direct linear chain of events from Genghis Khan to Osama Bin Laden.

If you don't mind we would all like to see this linear chain.

You may use this thread.

Something like this:

1. Damn we kick ass and are really fucking rich. Let's spend the money on funky buildings and science and shit. Since we're kicking so much ass we can afford to be good winners and not kick those silly Christians when they're down too hard.
2. Fucking Crusaders.
3. Fucking Mongols.
4. Fucking Turks.
5. I miss having cities that aren't piles of rubble without nearby pyramids of human heads. Damn do those foreigners suck.
6. I miss controling all the trade between Asia and Europe. Fucking Vasco de Gama.
7. Now I got no gold, fucking foreigners.
8. Now the foreigners are colonizing our shit. *beep*.
9. I know, lets try this nationalism thing. Maybe that will help.
10. Hmmm, all our nationalist leaders got their asses kick by Jews. Fucking Nasser. Fucking Jews.
11. Hmmmm, I wonder if blowing shit up will help matters. Nothing else has, gotta be at least worth a fucking shot.
