It depends.... He's taking a risky route by using an online only university... He's better off finding an online program through a university with the same program on campus... In those situations, your degree is almost never notated as having come from the online program... |

I received one of my degrees from an online University and had no problem coming over when I presented that degree as my verifying document for employment. They never even blinked when they looked at it. I think it should not be a problem unless the University is unknown or has a bad history with its degree program. Online versus on site should make no difference if it is a fully accredited institution of higher ed... |

U of Pheonix is a diploma mill. He will not get a visa with that piece of paper. |

I don't know anything about U of Phoenix, but I went to the website, and it appears to be accredited... |

It's nationally accredited, but not regionally accredited. That's what I've heard, anyway. So it's debatable whether it's accredited or not. Personally, I would never go to University of Phoenix online when there are other universities (like Excelsior College) that are both nationally AND regionally accredited and cost just a little more than half per credit hour. Not only is University of Phoenix dubious, it's also super expensive. Why do people choose to go there in the first place? Is it just because it advertises so heavily? Is this an AOL-like deal? |
