I am planning to come to Korea in late February and check out some schools in Seoul before returning to the states for about a month. Would it be possible to find a job at a public school starting March, April, or even May? I work at a public school in Thailand and the school year finishes towards the end of February. I have read a lot of the postings in the forums and gather that most Korean public schools start in February and March, and hire up until late August (?). How realistic is this?

The new school year starts on March 2.
Most government programs do the bulk of their hiring during July for the start of the 2nd semester at the end of August.
The remainder of the schools who missed out will hire when they can find someone (whenever that may be).

EPIK (public school teaching program) in Gangwondo hires in June/July for fall/winter term (2nd half of school year) and in Dec/Jan for spring/summer term (1st half). I know of teachers leaving in Feb, so it's possible to find positions for the March 2nd start date. They are also still trying to place teachers in most middle schools in the province. You'd probably have to be here to begin at the schools the last week of Feb. Check it out...
