I just got back home to the U.S. after teaching English in Mexico for the past two months. I'm hoping that I will be able to find a job soon over the internet for teaching adults in Korea. Right now the only real EFL teaching book I have is Raymond Murphy's "Basic Grammar in Use". It's been really helpful for teaching beginning students, but obviously I'll be needing more books, including ones for intermediate and advanced learners. I have two questions: 1) Are EFL books cheaper in Korea than they are in the U.S.? 2) Are they more difficult to get in Korea? I just want to know before I buy a bunch of books and haul them over the ocean. Also, I'm open to suggestions about which books I should get. Thank you.

difficulty of getting books depends on where you live. Major cities shouldn't be a problem. If you know what you want a good online bookstore is yes asia with free shipping to Korea. Books are not much more expensive than back in Canada/US unless you are buying novels then you will be paying through the nose.

For recommended books see Kimcheekings Guide to Teaching Resources. Hopefully that will help.

Thanks for the info kimcheeking. I hope you dont mind, but I still have some questions. You wrote that Raymond Murphy has 3 levels to his Grammar In Use books. I can only find the basic and intermediate ones on amazon.com and bn.com. Does Raymond Murphy have an Advanced Grammar In Use book too? If so, whats the exact name of it, and could you give me a website link where I could find it? Im not sure how to get it here in the U.S. Also, Id like to get a good book for teaching phonetics. Maybe I just missed it, but I didnt notice one on your list. Do you have any recommendations for that? Thanks again.

Also, Ive had these two books recommended to me more than once: "Principles of Language Learning and Language Teaching" by H. Douglas Brown and "Teaching by Principles" by H. Douglas Brown. I noticed that they were published around the same time and that each is around 400 pages. I also noticed that each of them costs $40+ on amazon.com. Is there a lot of overlap in these books? I was thinking of just buying one of them because theyre expensive and pretty heavy to carry along with me in my suitcase, and I thought there might be plenty of overlap because they were published around the same time and have similar titles. To those of you who have read these books, is my thinking correct here?
