I recieved a notice today of a compulsory seminar hosted by the Dept. of Immigration. It's on Nov. 10th at Topaz Hall, Mokdong. Does anyone know anything about these? |

I also heard about it, but from my boss, about a week ago. It's kind of ironic that I finish teaching two weeks later, but what can you do.
Apparently this is what they mean in the contract when they say "teacher must attend compulsory bi-monthly seminars to improve teachers skills blah blah" or some thing similar. This is what my boss told me and that is all I know.
Now I know it's in "Topaz Hall" but I have no idea where that is. Would also appreciate any more info. I'll put more here when I get it. |

This is comical, to say the least. All your employers are "tools" if they think it's your responsibility to become well versed on how to enforce new immigration policies and procedures. On second thought, maybe it's another illegal teacher round-up. |

They did one of these for hakwon teachers last year too.
It was 1/2 information with some good stuff on how to get released from your job, re-entry permits, extension of stay and 1/2 junk with a little mis-information tossed in (I think because the guy talking didn't know and was making it up as he went along). |

My Dad once got an invitation that he'd "won" something but had to go downtown to get it. I drilled him. "have you entered any contests?"
"No."
"Have any unpaid parking tickets?"
"Lots."
"Don't go."
He didn't and what do you know? I was right! They were rounding people up. |
