Do you karaoke? If yes, what do you sing? Ever sing a Korean song?

Karaoke is fine. Bit of fun when drunk and in a group.

NoRaeBang is standard after-dinner fare, before heading to the pub.

My warmup song is always Green Day's Basket Case, then a mix of Nirvana, RHCP, the repertoire goes on and on.
But I had LOTS of practice.

EDIT: Always sang Arirang since World Cup 2002.

This is my third Asian country so I have quite a bit of karaoke experience. The biggest lesson is to try to sing a song that everybody will know!

Can't see the sense in sitting in a small room being bombarded with lousy, loud music. Smile

i get very excited when somebody mentions noraebang, altho i'm always afraid that if i'm really smashed, i'll hog the controls and mike and try to sing every song. the best songs have the perfect combination of emotion and cheese. in english, i think "don't wanna miss a thing" by aerosmith is up there (sadly i haven't been able to find it lately), "unchained melody" by the righteous brothers always gets u right there. a recent favourite would have to be "my humps" by that terrible group who we won't name here.

in korean, 말달리자 by crying nut is always fun to scream along to, as well as jaurim's bouncier numbers. i also like old 트로트 songs like 뭐야뭐야뭐야...

oh noraebang! the passion! the excitement! the terrible gyrations!!! the cheese!!! the torn vocal chords!!!! the snuck-in 50세주!!!!!

Cheer up mate.

I agree with the other poster, Basket Case can be a good warm up, it's possibly the easiest song in the book. It's a guaranteed 100 every time even though the scoring systems are bollocks.

I sing everything, but eventually even bore myself (not to mention others), with the same old songs (see, Jeremy, Paranoid Android, Paint It Black).

Lately I've been astonishing people with... Nights In White Satin, Unchained Melody, House Of The Rising Sun, The Sound Of Silence, 2 + 2=5, Day Tripper, and All Is Full Of Love. Yes it is a beautiful sight, a big drunkard screeching in Icelandic inflected falsetto for 4 minutes. You love it.

Such fun. And we haven't even started on the tambourines....I even have one here at home......

A foreigner gets brownie points for singing ONE Korean song, but will get even more if he or she can belt out ENGLISH tunes with quality.

Open karaoke bars are gaining in popularity, especially the Gangnam area of Seoul.

Fyi - sadly, Wonderwall by Oasis does not make a good karaoke song.

somebody's already talked about "arirang" here. it's simple, repetitive and has few words to learn. all great qualities for the noraebang! 윤도현's (yoondohyun(?)) band did a pretty good version for the 2002 world cup.

one of the songs i've talked about (maldallicha by crying nut) has a really easy chorus (of that word), and u just have to yell it.

another one that's not hard to learn is called Never-ending Story by 부활 (boohwal). again, not heaps of words to learn here.

sorry these are all oldish songs, but they're simple ones that i happen to know about and like. ^^

Yes, but if you can do it, Don't Look Back In Anger (also Oasis) really does. Also, Knock Three Times does. Everyone seems to get into that one.
