I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience calling internationally using the internet -- either computer to phone, or computer to computer. My girlfriend lives in Israel, and even calling with a phone card is fairly expensive. She has broadband, or will soon, and I'm told that you can use Microsoft NetMeeting to talk computer to computer, but I'm wondering if the quality is any good.

If anyone's played with this stuff at all, lemme know.

I thank you in advance.

UnJef,

I suggest that you purchase (and she too) a webcam...assuming your computer is of 'recent' technology and connection speed is good, you can chat with more capabilities.

Try using MSN Messenger...if you've a mic, you can chat that way, and with a webcam attached (they already have a mic) you can just sit and chat with just a click.

You can get webcams as cheap as 18,000 won ....but I suggest Logitech's Pro 4000...ran me about 120,000 in Yongsan.

shoosh,

Ryst

Thanks for the info.

Is there a bad delay when talking pc to pc from so far away? I've found that some of the international phone connections have been pretty crappy, is internet phone any better/worse?

www.iconnecthere.com

I use this service, and it works great to call internationally. Prices are great too. I think I call the USA for 4 cents/minute. Connection is usually perfect, and people often don't know I'm calling from computer. The only problems i've had is when another program is using the audio features, and it interferes, so I shut down the other programs (MSN, Yahoo) that have a tendency to do this.
