RENZOBENZO why are you counting the days until you are gone? If you hate your job that much, just quit now and try something different. Counting days is a terrible way to live your life. |

It was the same way with me; the bittersweet feeling of leaving and going home. As much as I hated the BS, there were somethings that I knew I would miss and still do. You will not be the same again. Get ready to experience a "time warp". When you get back you will have progressed and everybody will have stayed the same. |

Can't help disagreeing with this statement. If anything I think the opposite is true. If you are teaching in Korea, you are the one standing still. I'm a teacher in Korea too. |

I've come to the realization that, due to my highly irritating family and loser friends back home (both of which I love dearly yet needed a long break from ), home is where my girlfriend is. And she happens to be here now. Not to mention I have nowhere to live and all my stuff is in my mother's basement live every other loser nomad. Maybe I haven't been here long enough, but in a way I'm dreading going home. Though I do miss beer....real beer that is. |

Well done!
I'll be going home around the same time as you. I'm very excited as well. The beginning of my year here was very frustrating and stressful, but I'm glad I decided to stick it out. I feel like I've aged much more than a year though. |

Only weirdos live their lives a year at a time. How many people back home are saying "Well, next year I'll..."?
I'm thinking about what kind of students I'm gonna have next semester and whether I'm gonna stay in the same apartment next year or not. And whether I'll meet a lucky lady in the next few months...
But OP--good on you. It is a good feeling to close one chapter and begin a new one (provided you have a plan for the new one). |

Glad you are happy at having done your contract here OP!
Best of luck in whatever you do next...
As for the counting days thing, I agree that it seems to be a terrible and indeed sad way to live your life, even for a short time.
Life is far too short to stay in a situation that leads you to count the days until you are done with something...I say quit, move on to something that makes you happy and where you can flourish.
The other choice seems a little strange to me....but thats just me. I would not stay in a situation where I was reduced to crossing out days on a calendar....that to me is incredibily sad and empty of meaning.

It's changed now-happy?
Korea has failed my expectations.
Yet I have started something and plan to stick it out.
Plus if I work hard this year even if I am miserable here, then at least I will have some good money in the bank earning interest if I decide to take it easy somewhere next year. |

Very interesting statement.
Has it really failed your expectations or were your expectations impossible to satisfy....?
This is always a good discussion topic.... |

no. It takes little to keep me satisfied....
I don't really want to go into too much personal detail on a public forum but feel free to message me. |
