So my friend and I are looking to go to Pyongyang with one of the tour groups. I want to know what the prices are, what the availability is, how the process works and whether or not it is possible to book for this weekend.

Links?

Thanks.

It's some vaariation on KORYO tours -you will find a good site..

You are joking about this weekend? Maybe (maybe ) this year. For starters you go from PRC so you need a visa just for that.

I looke d into it but it didn't seem worth it----big bucks..

Dude, you are a work of art. Go teach up there. Your presence/absence will be appreciated on both sides of the DMZ.

It has long been possible to go to the Pyongyang via China on tours, but to go from Seoul to Pyongyang direct Confused .... I've never seen that before. Please post details if there is some new tour being offered.

Not only do you start a thread with 'so...' (do you think you're sitting in Central Perk with your 'Friends'?) but you make a ludicrous request and demonstrate extraordinary ignorance of which you could have quickly dispossessed yourself by typing one or two words into Google. An almost perfect Dave's posting, but could have been improved with some comments praising an arcane and insignificant aspect of Korean culture and maybe a criticism of all other Westerners here. I give it an 8.5/10.

Hitch a ride with the DMZ tour which run up to Panmunjeom, they'll be North Korean tour giudes to greet you at the border. Be sure to bring a plate of fruit and $500US in $20 notes and they'll be happy to take you up to Pyongyang.

Here's a photo of my tour guide, Mr. Kim. He was a bit gruff and stuffy, but all in all, a nice guy.

Good luck, the autumn foliage is beautiful this time of year in Pyongyang. Smile

No it won't be possible to go this weekend, probably not even this month...

There is one reputable tour that is run by and English guy for about 10 years and is probably the only way you could get to pyongyang but it isn't cheap....you are looking at 1500-1700 euros(2 million - 2.5 million won) just for the tour plus whatever it costs to get to beijing and back so at least 2.5 million.
I looked at it a few times but the only thing stopping me is moral issues.
If you are American you can go on specially approved USA tours which the travel group below organize...

I don't get all the hostility. I want to go because I talked to a bunch of other foreign teachers who went a little while ago and they said it was something I should check out. Why the hell not?

I know there are Pyongyang tours... why am I an idiot for asking?

I also met a guy who climbed a mountain in North Korea a few months ago.

Its not impossible to do this.

Dude, nobody is questioning the fact of whether or not you can do it, but the fact that you are asking for this weekend, which starts tomorrow is what makes it so ridiculous. You are going to the most closed off country in the world and you are wondering about going to their capital tomorrow.

Before we totally gang up on the guy for his idiocy, I'd like to clarify something. Was he asking if he could book to GO ON THE TRIP this weekend, or was he asking if he could simply book the trip this weekend, and travel on a later date.

If he's asking only about being able to book it this weekend, that's not so dumb. If he wants to actually travel there this weekend.... damn.

Nah, sod that. Let's just gang up on him. It's more fun.

Or gang up on me if you like. Whatever. But let's gang up on someone, at least.
