Hello,
Sorry for a newbie question, but I have to know. I got a pretty decent job and am leaving next week for Bundang. My husband is staying in korea with me, but the recruiter keeps telling me that he should come later than I do.
Given the long flight (i'm in canada), it would be easier if we went together. Is this a good idea? I don't want to freak out the school or risk my job.
Thank you. |

I don't think that bringing your husband along is going to cause you to lose your job -- it is too much of a pain to fly a teacher over and get all the paperwork in order (assuming a legal, legit job).
Unfortunately, unless your husband already has a job lined up in the same town as you, the situation will probably raise a few eyebrows and prompt some assumptions...probably the most common of which would be that your husband will be teaching illegal private lessons if he is not employed...and that assumption might be what worries the recruiter.
Coming over later will delay the beginning of those assumptions, but it might allow you to make a better first impression on your school's administration -- that is, they might assume the two of you PLAN for him to be doing illegal private lessons if he comes with you...then again, maybe no one thinks that way, except the administrators I have encountered.
I wouldn't worry too much about it -- I don't think you will freak out the school to the point that it causes major problems, and the trip is easier to handle for two...but if your plan IS for him to be teaching illegally, I think pretty much everyone will be expecting it and looking for it. If he plans on staying legal and legit, then the worst is that some folks will be suspicious of him.... |

| Who cares what the stupid Koreans think anyway? Do what you want and if the school doesn't like then be rude. Trust me...polite behavior is wasted on Koreans. Tell the boss it is none of his business. |

If you got an E2, your husband can come in on a tourist visa, and then apply for a spouses visa.
Once he finds a job, he can go to japan for his E2, come back in and work legally. |
