i have just found out that my luggage restrictions greatly hamper my ability to ship home the wealth of crap i've accumulated since i came here.
JAL is demanding 160 bucks per extra bag. i want to see if the postal service is cheaper. has anyone ever used it to ship bags? |

| If I remember correctly, you have to have the bag/suitcase in a box (or at least cardboard on the outside of the bag). The total dimensions of the box cannot exceed 220cm. So you can have a height of 80cm, a width of 100cm and a depth of 40 cm, etc. |

Before you go through the trouble (and co$t) of shipping your accumulation of stuff, spend a good amount of time deciding if it is actually worth it to ship all of those things. I spent a year in Taiwan and at the end of it shipped to large boxes of stuff back home. Needless to say, it's two years later now, and I still haven't touched most of that stuff that I should have just donated away or recycled in the first place before leaving Taiwan.

| Well it was going to cost nearly $300 to have a box of clothes shipped here from the US, so I'm pretty sure your best bet will be to pay the extra baggage fee. |

Shipping to N.A. from here is not nearly as expensive as shipping from there to here.
I have shipped multiple items home and it has been rediculously cheap!
I shipped to Canada the largest boxes the Korean post offices sell, packed full of clothes. books etc. . On average each box cost about 40,000 won. |

Please tell me how you got by with such little postage. I sent a 10.00 dollar clock to my grand daughter and it cost me 38,000 won. It was a small clock. Please I really would like to know what I am doing wrong.

| From Daegu to Canada, one medium sized suitcase was about $45. Tell them you want it sent by BOAT not by plane. They will tell u it takes up to 3 months but I got mine in about 1 month max. I just took it to the regular postal outlet. I helped them wrap the suitcase in brown paper and tape. At first they said it was too big and were gonna make me repack it in two boxes but later they obliged. |

Yep, there is a HUGE difference in the fee for surface mail or air mail. Air mail seems to make it in about 10 days, surface anywhere from 6-10 weeks. But surface is SO MUCH cheaper if you have the time.
The USPS no longer does surface mail, so that's why it costs your first born to send anything over here. |

No rush, surface mail shipping to Canada is area 3 nd max price and weight for surface mail to Canada is 48k won and 20 kilos (44 lbs).
Going to the states (the US is area 4 pricing) it is it 58k won for 20 kilos.
Surface mail can take 6-10 weeks for delivery.
You probably sent the doll air parcel, or for that price probably EMS. Quick but expensive. |
