I have no idea about their vegetarian food, but that's some good eating right there and I'd imagine that it would be the same good quality in the non-meat dishes.

If Everest is the little Nepalese joint in Dongdaemun, yes, their veggie food was great when I had it a year or so ago, smallish restaurant though, so you might want to call ahead. That and it's a little difficult to find.

Actually, the "Ashoka's" weekend lunch buffet is 25,000 won, but it's a lot more elaborate than Taj Palace's. It used to be bigger and better though a couple years ago. And their regular menu does have way too many meat entrees to be considered civilized...

I checked out "Dal" once, but their menu was also geared to meat-eaters, and the prices seemed at least as high as the Ashoka.

I haven't been to the "Chakra" in Hannam in a long time. Their buffets were better than Taj Palace's for the same price (15,000 won...) Ethnically, I think their various branches are run by Muslims, Christians, and Hindus...

The couple that runs the small "New Delhi" restaurant bordering Noksaypyeong and Itaewon are also very friendly, and we could take up all their tables with a big turnout (- it's also 15,000 won buffet...)

Hey, I listen to you every once in a while! You suggested these bi-monthly meetings, alternating between a Saturday and a Sunday. I just don't have the same obsession with Ashoka (which you led the club to when I was in Canada, I might add.) You can have the occasional power trip when I leave town twice a year- try to save up all your great ideas I ignore until then. Except that one about the dues. That was not cool.

Oh, by the way, the next meeting will definitely be at Dos Tacos in Gangnam or Hongdae. They tend to be quite crowded, so maybe we can meet up at a weird time, like 3 pm or something, and avoid the rush.

Everest is definitely good for vegetarians/vegans. For meat-eaters, however, I'd recommend Gangja (also in Dongdaemoon).

Please list your favourite types of food, so I can plan restaurant visits that suit everyone's palates.

kerms, i like ice cream...maybe some of those corn ice cream bars for the veggie GTG? only kidding, i am in china for awhile and hope to make one or more of these veggie gatherings. They sound great, keep up the great work! Very Happy

I�m moving to the suburbs soon and may be staying out of restaurants for the foreseeable future, but thanks to both Kermo and Rteacher for keeping this club going. What you�re doing is really wonderful�you�re helping a lot of human and nonhuman animals.

Hey, you can't just retire to the suburbs, "Bramble" - you can't be much farther away from Seoul than I am (wherever the hell I am ...)

The bus system is pretty good all over Korea, and - unless you're located on the east coast - practically no place is more than two hours from Seoul.

Without your vote to go to some nice places we're liable to end up directly on or near Hooker Hill nearly every time (or at least right near a popular bar...)

On Facebook, "drink" seems to get equal billing with vegetarian "food" in the club's advertising.

Conveniently disregarding the fact that I am a control freak, it's not so much that I'm on any power trip here (though I do plan to rule the galaxy some day... Twisted Evil ) as that I'm beginning to feel disenfranchised.

Although I, "Bramble" (and "Reverend something-or-other"...) have clearly expressed that Korean vegetarian restaurants are among our preferences, somehow it hasn't been reflected at all in the "official survey".

I think that a real vote of all members (still in Korea) would indicate that the best Korean places would rank right behind the better Indian restaurants in popularity.

Anyway, I'm only half-joking, and I'll probably not make it again - for the fourth time in a row...

(The real reason is that I've procrastinated too long on producing a bunch of lesson plans due before my open class next week, and I need to do a lot of shopping ...)

I'd like to go to Dos Taco's the next gathering, but I'd much prefer that it be at the Gangnam location (almost sure to be outvoted, though, by Hongdae bar scene aficionados ...)
