The prices there are absurd. I don't know how she stays in business. You can get almost all that stuff at Hannam Supermarket.

I got the AAFES bags, too - double bagged at that! I thought it was rather ironic.

That place has been there since 1997 (or longer), so apparently the US military considers it an insignificant drain on US taxpayer dollars (and/or maybe the ajumma pays off the appropriate authorities, and the US military considers it fighting a losing battle.

She did have fresh Skoal and Copenhagen (no, I don't use either) in the fridge though. Can you get that at any other place in town (off base)?

Where else in Seoul can you buy Triscuit crackers or some of those cereals.

They also have a wide selection of deoderants and condoms.

The Red Door is the only place in Seoul where you can buy some of those things.

Plus I like the walk down there from Itaewon Station. It's a nice area.

Has anyone been to the Kashmir Indian/Pakistani restaurant nearby?

Come out of Hanganjin subway exit 2 and keep walking around the big corner. You'll eventually see a big over pass which you should walk over to get to the other side of the road. You should see a harley shop and some boat shop. Take the right stairs down and keep walking. It should be on your left after a short time. It's down stairs and you cant miss it cause there is a bowling pin outside the top of the stairs

So, you are saying that Hannam Market's prices are reasonable Shocked . A lot of that stock comes from Costco, and is ridiculously priced.

I don't buy the stuff that comes from Costco- I just go to Costco. ^~ Haven't been to Hannam in awhile, but there is a lot of stuff I've bought there that you can't buy at Costco. It's cheaper than the Red Door, that's all I'm saying. Some of the prices are reasonable, some of them aren't, esp. some of the stuff at Dandy's Grocery at the front of Hannam Supermarket.

I wish that frame shop hadn't gone out of business (at Hannam Supermarket). Anybody know where to go for framing and matting?

Hannam market is great.. Are people saying they can't afford it?

Spices meats and cooking stuff, Tylenol and Advil which are tricky to find...Even a good booze selection. Real mouthwash as I recall...

Buy books in Itaewan , somes Advil and Listerine and then head to Hooker Hill---a perfect day in Korea no?

True.

And enjoy it while you can.

Camp Long PX Closes After Black Market Scandal

If you have ever wondered how much money is to be made black marketing items from a USFK PX this article should give you some idea:

Quote:
Camp Long soldiers seeking anything beyond basic food and living products must now take one extra step before shopping to catch a bus to Camp Eagle.

The remote installations Army and Air Force Exchange Service store closed Sept. 14, leaving the roughly 150 Camp Long-based soldiers waiting for an hourly shuttle bus to ride the seven miles to Eagle. []

She has those Prilosec OTC pills that are great for heartburn. I couldn't find those anywhere else. She really has a good selection of American goodies in such a small space though some most of it costs double of that in the US.

For those of you closer to the Sinchon area, there's a great shop with a wider variety of stuff and moderate prices behind the Hyundai Dept. Store. It's right next to the park. Lots of cereal, meds, spices, packaged foods (including hard taco shells Very Happy ) and soft drinks.

Can't remember the name, but I think it starts with "여기" something...red and white sign, friendly owner...

Just an FYI~ the Red Door doesn't accept credit cards (at least she didn't the last time I was in there, which was quite a few months ago), so bring cash.

Every pharmacy has Tylenol, and Olive Young & EMart have had Listerine products for at least a year.
