| Either "D.O.A." which documents the Pistols one and only U.S. tour, or "The Last Pogo", which is basically concert footage of "The Pointed Sticks", "Teenage Head", and "The Viletones". |

D.O.A. was not the one and only American tour. They got together with Glen Matlock their original Base player and did a second American tour in the early ninties. The Filth and the Fury contains a lot of the original footage from DOA. In addition it has some rare and coherant interviews with Sid where he doesn't fall asleep and appears very intelligent. It also has a rare interview with John Lydon where he laments the death of Sid and breaks out crying. All the interviews all done in a protective custody manner and the up to date footage of the pistols faces are darkened.
The Last Pogo was the early punk scene in Toronto. A good follow up movie would be Not Dead Yet This movie takes place in the early eighties. Most of it was made in Larrys Hideaway andThe Turning
Point Neither of these clubs exist any more. Its portrays a lot Toronto Eighties punk bands like B.F.G. and Blipper and the Ratcrushers. There's some great footage of the Old Fort Goof and the Goofs picking food out of the garbage. |

Seen a newer movie called "American Hardcore." It's specifically about hardcore, but has a great bit about Bad Brains. The Bad Brains are periodically my favorite punk band. |
That's a good movie, however it claims to be about the Hardcore scene in the States in the 80s and highlights loads of the bigger as well as more obscure bands but for some strange reason completely fails to mention anything about both The Misfits and the Dead Kennedys.
I mean WTF was that all about? Dispute over music rights? Perhaps, but no mention at all?? Kind of ruined it for me. |

I thought someone had already mentionned HATED, but skimming the first few pages of this thread I didn't see it... perhaps it was another thread.
Anyway, although GG Allin and the Murder Junkies weren't exactly classifiable as a band, IMO, people who enjoy punk movie/documentaries will like it... I can think of very few people who were as crazy, violent, sadistic, and wildly uncontrollable as GG Allin. |

The only tour with that line-up. By the time of Filthy Lucre, there was no Sex Pistols anymore. The Professionals picked up where the Pistols left off. Julian Temple's film isn't bad, but it's way too artsy-fartsy. Check out the Classic Albums series DVD of Never Mind The Bollocks for more bang for your buck.
One I forgot was Don Letts' "Punk; Attitude" which I downloaded ages ago. It's the best of the lot, though the extras often repeat what's in the finished product. |
