Anyone know where there is a sewing accessories store where I could buy a couple of strips of elastic. I have looked in E-mart, Lotte-mart, Homeover; no luck. Should have it in some sort of sewing accessories or material shop. If I were in America, I would run over to the Hancock Fabic store or some other sewing accessories store. When I describe a sewing accessories store to a Korean friend, I am getting that "Are you from Mars?" look. Any idea where to look for some elastic for sewing?
No, I am not an avid sewer. I have some bed suspenders for keeping my sheets on the bed and I need to extend them for my new king size mattress. About 10 minutes simple work if I can find the elastic.
Thanks, Drew |

Where do you live? YOu are going to have to find the fabric marker in your town. Here in Busan, Busanjin market has everything under the sun for fabric/sewing. |

I am in Seoul, near Hong Ik University.
I love Korea and I shouldn't get annoyed so easy; but when they get that "everything in the world is at Lotte Department Store, what you are wanting doesn't exist on Earth" attitude going, it gets a bit frustrating.
So it seems I need the "sewing market" on the west side of Seoul. Any ideas?
Thanks, Drew |

I've bought elastic at stationary stores, art supply shops, and at a CNA. |

Exit out of Dongdaemun station (NOT Dongdaemun Stadium). There is a big building outside of the subway to the South and/or East selling everything sewing material related. A few big buildings, actually. The buidings are massive. It's a huge market for materials. Goes on and on -- multiple floors, packed shoulder-to-shoulder and stores to the rafters.
Pure ajumma heaven. |

Yup - it has small stores on the street selling sequin strands so you'll know you're in the right place. Don't just go into the building as it's mazelike and almost devoid of natural light! Go underground one floor from the carpark. You should see a notions shop right in front of you.
I've also seen elastic and basic sewing gear in 1000 won shops. |

Thanks all,
I went to Dongdaemon. In front of the "flea market" in the stadium was a shoestring seller with elastic. I went on to Dongdaemon station and saw the indoor market that above posters referred to. It looked rather cramped inside, so I decided I was happy with what I had from the shoestring seller.
Thanks for all the help.
