One of the best transit systems in the world
Availability and cheapness of Palaces, museums and other cultural offerings
Free Ultimate Fighting Championships on X-sports
Delicious food thats light, yet still filling
A unique and complex language thats fun to learn
Mini Skirts and the ladies that fill them out nicely
Uninterrupted internet connections
5000 years of history and customs
Dozens of mountains to climb for exercise and/or fun
Korean mothers always making sure everyone gets their fruit

You are new here, aren't you?

Most of those are opinion, but the 5000 year thing is just a lie.

I smell a Korean from naver looking to get some negative responses so he can go and tell all his netizens.

One of the best transit systems in the world? Have you ever lived anywhere but Seoul? Me thinks not.

A unique and complex language thats fun to learn?? It is one of the most frustrating languages in the world. I have been studying Korean for years and everytime I try to use a new phase, unless I pronounce it EXACTLY like a Korean would pronounce it, noone understands me. And those I try to talk to allow absolutlely no tolerance for errors in pronunciation.

Dozens of mountains to climb for exercise and/or fun?? Seen one--seen them all.

Mini Skirts and the ladies that fill them out nicely
Uninterrupted internet connections

These I agree with. I just wish Korean women were more honest than their male counter parts.

Basicly, unless you live in, or are able to travel to Seoul frequently, I find Korea to be a very boring place to live. The only thing that I really find attractive about this country is the money that one can make.

Really? Honestly? Where the hell have you lived that has a better public transportation system? And since the OP said "one of the best" perhaps you could name 5 or 6 better big city public transportation systems? The Seoul public transportation system is way better than that of London, LA, Paris, Chicago, New York or pretty much any large western city I've visted (even without factoring in cost).

Despite that I dont like Seoul, gotta agree... Seoul has a kickass and cheap subway system. So many stops. only a dime per ride. Can't beat it. Plus buses that cover the subway stops redundantly.

I don't like Seoul that much either, I prefer smaller cities or the countryside, however I can't knock the Seoul public transportation system. And the buses don't just cover the subway system redundantly, they also go everywhere the subway doesn't cover too.

I pretty much agree with all the points in the opening post. Of course, there's plenty of bad stuff, too, if that's what you want to focus on.

Overall, I think that South Korea is as good a place as any to live and work in - at least for a while ...

Off topic, but i have to say that for a developed country/city, Rome has to have like the WORST subway/bus system. So expensive and confusing and there's no info published about it anywhere. On the other hand, Id much rather live in and generally be in Rome than in Seoul...

My Top 10 (in no partic. order):

Korean street food - cheap and yummy

Korean women in mini skirts and just women, in general

Bonding over beer and karaoke

Fall weather - cool and crisp (though the season is too short)

Customer service - sales people are so polite and helpful, even though they're not expecting a tip

Restaurants/ bars are open late

Nightlife - I've been to some pretty cool places, mostly in Apgujeong.

Transit system - it's flawed, but the subways, buses and taxis always get me from A to B with relative ease.

Bargain shopping

3,000 won jja jjang myun (noodles with black bean sauce)

And for the record, it wasn't easy coming up with 10 things for this list.

Hmm..I wonder if I can make a list of 10.

1. Women in general.

2. Making money.

3. Food/drink being so cheap (at least I think so)

4. Singing rooms.

5. Good movie theatres with comfy seats.

6. So many ridiculous people cramped into such a small area. Good to laugh at them.

7. You can throw a stick and you will always hit a convenience store, place to eat, Dunkin Donuts, etc.

8. There's always some kind of event going on somewhere.

9. Did I mention money?

10. 2500 years of history, and no progress. Fun to laugh at.

For those that can't say a positive thing about korea, why live here? and secondly why post on a korean forum. I think it says more about you than anything. Everybody knows it's not perfect but name a place that is.

my ten

1. Food
2. Good internet
3. cheap transport
4. things are open late (especially compared to UK)
5. girls are awesome and not the size of a bus.
6. students bowing to me.
7. good scenic places to visit.
8. hanguel is easy to learn, (although pronunciation is the hardest i've seen)
9. money is good for such an easy job
10. crime is relatively low.

There are some bad things; alcohol is awful, lots of racism, glorified yet fake culture and image obsessed.

Well, it took a few posts, but someone finally showed up with the ol' "if you don't like it, leave" comment. Kudos to you, sir.

Here're mine!

1. HUGE swing dance scene. Great dancers.
2. I've met so many nice Koreans. Many go waay out of their way to be helpful.
3. My workplace rocks. Nice bosses, nothing to complain about. Lots of things to be thankful for! They've been more generous than they needed to be already.
4. Good pay, good work schedule.
5. Good public transit, and quite cheap.
6. The chance to learn another language.
7. The chance to experience another culture.
8. Opportunities to travel around in Asia.
9. My kitchen. It's huge! I love it. Actually, my whole apartment is great.
10. The food, when I can find vegetarian stuff. This is only half a plus, actually, because it's not as easy to find vegetarian food as back home. But when you find it, it's great, so it still qualifies as a good thing overall.

Edit: and I also like that crime is low. I'm sure there are other things that I'm forgetting.
