Bah. It's 66.6% about resentment toward foreigners' talking in English loudly.
Just look at how Koreans react when they see loud talking foreigners on trains and buses here. The Japanese are even more intolerant.
It's partially about violating their social norms concerning behaviour on public transit and partially about xenophobia. |

To be fair, half of the time I'm on a train, and I hear some obnoxious Koreans yelling or shouting stuff or even shouting very loudly having a conversation, I want to tell them to 'quiet it down about 10 notches please'.
I'd imagine in Japan where they are naturally more aware and tolerant of people in public space, and its expected people show the same awareness and respect, it would be much more annoying when you see one group of people who just can't seem to get the concept. |

I doubt it:

After getting on the train, the party-goers became drunk and loud, shouting in English and becoming aggressive towards a few Japanese.
At some point, an idiot removed or disabled the lighting in the train car, forcing the train to make an emergency stop at Shinagawa station, where police forced everyone out of the train and tried to see what had gone wrong with the lights. It is unclear whether this put an end to the party, or if it continued afterwards. |
Sounds like a simple case of no-class morons pissing people off. |

"...but we're having fun, and even some Japanese people joined us" is the basic retort. When will foreigners learn? Haha I'm not even bitter, it's just common sense... so I could imagine what other people might think of the scene. |

The Halloween curcle line party in Osaka was a great party every year until a few revellers decided to ruin it for everyone else, so much so that Osaka police shut it town in toto last year.
SO, they move the party to Tokyo this year, and what happens? The same idiot revellers ruin it for everyone again. |
