it's just my opinion, but i'd say PLANNING to have kids is unselfish because you're actually thinking about that child... having sex and not thinking about the possibility of children being created is selfish in my books

I see what you're saying but I was thinking it's selfish cause these people just want kids to boost their own ego's. Those who don't plan but choose to be the best parents they can once they find out about th pregnancy is, in my opinion only, un-selfish. So if I were to scale it, unscientifically of course, from selfish to not so selfish, it's planning kids and being bad parents, not planning kids and being bad parents, planning kids and being good parents, not planning kids and being good parents, followed by adoption and being good parents, I think adoption is a great thing and should be encouraged. You want to be a parent? There are, dare I say millions out there, who need parents.

(And I'm mostly talking about the more modern-ish peopel. I understand that for our parents and before, having kids is just what people did.)
