Yes, I got a brand new car. I am going to be joining the idiots on the road. I hope that some idiot doesn't wreck my car when driving.

Btw, the car I have bought is a Hyundai i30.

Cool

Unless you import, you hit a pretty low ceiling buying a Korean car... Laughing

Congrats, though buying new here might have been a mistake. I have seen many new cars that have dings and scrapes just from daily Korean driving.

Cool- what will you be using it for? Day to day transportation or weekend trips? And what made you decide to take this step? Subway not convenient enough?

Anyway, enjoy your new wheels.

a nice looking hatchback as long as you didn't get a bland white, black or grey one.

What are you paying for gas may I ask? With the price of oil above $90/barrel, I personally would not recommend buying a car at this time, but that's just skeptical skeeter speaking.

With resources being scarce as they are, do you think that oil price will come down? And if it does, do you think it'll be a significant decrease?

You should keep it an hermetically-sealed (sp?) underground bunker when you're not driving it. I drive a Sonata. Its a good car, but if I was uptight about the random dings and scratches that it has suffered, I would have already had a stroke.

I'm from downtown Boston, so I'm used to that crap. Your car is new? Better take a pic now, because chances are it will look much less new pretty soon.

Anyway, congratulations. Mine still drives nice, and I hope your's will too for a long time to come.

Congrats.

The worst, I mean the very worst, place for getting dings and scratches on your car are in the parking lots at apartment complexes. People don't seem to give a hoot about opening their car door and scratching yours. Crying or Very sad

man....last time I was in Korea, I went to E-mart with relatives. If there's a space big enough for parking, koreans will take it. @_@ But since your the foreigner, you'll probably lose court battles if you get into a serious accident

The dings and dents of daily idiocy here on the roads and car parks was a major reason me and wifey didn't shell out for a new car. Second hand all the way.

I'm jealous! I also have my eye (har har) on the 30.

I was, however, quite surpised to learn that it's actually more expensive than the new avante.

The diesel one with a stick and sunroof is the one to get. Only 15,500,000...

If your car is totaled by the driver of a very expensive car(Mercedes S600 Sedan priced at $145,000), you could likely be blamed at 40% to their 60%.

If their car is also totaled and your insurance limit does not cover the 40%, you may have to pay some money out of pocket depending on how much your car costs. Good luck and hope you don't kill a Korean while driving.

Not saying you are wrong, but I find it hard to believe that this is actually the case. I have known 2 people in accidents, and both times they didn't pay a thing as it wasn't their fault.

That's not always true anymore, but the possibility that it will happen is there. My guess is that it was a scam created so that the insurance companies can increase the premiums of the two drivers since the odds were high that the two drivers were insured by the same company.
