Which makes it even more inexplicable that you could rate London's transport system as better than Seoul's. London's tube is more unreliable, less frequent, more prone to strikes and breakdowns, older, dirtier, has no a/c in the summer, is more cramped, and is a haven for criminals. And let's not even talk about the fact that fares are usually triple, or quadruple the price of Seoul's fares.

In fact, I can't think of one way in which public transport in London is better than Seoul.

Haha... Im living in London now and while the Underground is pretty iconic, its way outdated, prone to industrial action, far too hot and just a bit random at times... price-wise its not too bad when youve got an Oyster Card and live in Zone 1 but the sheer convenience of the transport system in Seoul (e.g. effective bus lanes too unless youre heading from Samseong into Gangnam at 6pm) wins it for me... I was never too big on the mission that was Munjeong to Itaewon on the subway, but the flexibility to jump between modes of transport on the same fare with a T-Money card is ingenious... also, what I wouldn't give to be able to use my cellphone on the Underground or watch DVB-TV

Top 10 Things About Life in Korea

1. 5,000W for a home-delivered Teriyaki Chicken, Bulgogi, Cheyuk Bokum Bap etc. w/accompanying kimchi & soup... (shout out to the street food lady outside of the old The Loft in Itaewon too... chicken stick & sausage stick, 1,200W each)
2. Appetising and healthy meals for breakfast and lunch... it took a while to get used to, but a sandwich no longer cuts it
3. Ridiculously fast, cheap and uncapped internet service;
4. Mobile phone usage on the subway and DVB-TV service on that cellphone;
5. 90 cable channels for about 20,000W;
6. The DVD salesmen on every major street, in every major subway station, and the ultimate DVD stall in Yongsan;
7. Public transport convenience, cost and cleanliness of the subway stations
8. Ondol;
9. Korean chicks  aesthetically beautiful;
10. The easy life that is teaching and the quality of life that 2,000,000W a month can provide in Korea;

Theres a lot to be improved on from the perspective of an expat... better access to cuisine from back home, wine, cheese... cheaper European clothing brands... European cars that cost less... attitude adjustments for some of the ajummas and ajoshis.... 10,000W being the biggest denomination of bill

I dont know... I had an amazing time when I was in Korea, but certain things also bugged the hell out of me... however, having left and started on a more professional capacity in London theres a lot more I appreciate about the life I had in Korea now that I dont have it, lol... just need to get back there in a professional capacity now...

Really? Honestly? Where the hell have you lived that has a better public transportation system? And since the OP said "one of the best" perhaps you could name 5 or 6 better big city public transportation systems? The Seoul public transportation system is way better than that of London, LA, Paris, Chicago, New York or pretty much any large western city I've visted (even without factoring in cost).

I meant that he has never live anywhere IN KOREA except seoul. Of course seoul has a great public transportation system, but not all of us live in Seoul.

I have thought of one think I like about Korea though: I don't have to pump my own gas at the gas station.

NO NO NO NO NO. The Seoul transport system is so superior to London its not even funny. Have you been to London.

Commuting on the tube is akin to sticking an ice pick up to your nose in terms of being an enjoyable experience. The thing is over 100 years old man. It needs to be ripped out and done again like they did in Franc.

And I was also say the subway in Fukuoka is a nightmare to figure out, as well. Not sure if the other Japanese tubes are the same, but jesus h. that one about gave me a heart attack.

The subways in Osaka and Tokyo are even worse. So not user friendly. Meandering stations. Different train companies all use the same tracks. You never know if this is the train you need to be on. Even my Japanese friends couldnt figure it out.

Despite that I dont like Seoul, gotta agree... Seoul has a kickass and cheap subway system. So many stops. only a dime per ride. Can't beat it. Plus buses that cover the subway stops redundantly.

I don't like Seoul that much either, I prefer smaller cities or the countryside, however I can't knock the Seoul public transportation system. And the buses don't just cover the subway system redundantly, they also go everywhere the subway doesn't cover too.

Off topic, but i have to say that for a developed country/city, Rome has to have like the WORST subway/bus system. So expensive and confusing and there's no info published about it anywhere. On the other hand, Id much rather live in and generally be in Rome than in Seoul...

Rome is CHEAP and EASY! Maybe you were confused, but in Rome you buy a ticket and you can use it for one hour on either buses or trains. Rome is overcrowded, but the transport is good.

That's great, but as I look at the thread title it specifies: The top 10 things I like about SEOUL Korea.

I might be able to think of the top 10 good things about Korea but not specifically Seoul.

1. Fast internet
2. No tipping
3. Galbi joints
4. Cheap-a$$ taxis
5. Good pay
6. Short work hours
7. Relatively safe
8. Slim women (of course, I'm not that attractive to Korean women, and they're not too attracted to me.)
9. The language is easy to read.
10. The low tax rate that foreigners get

Should I think of 10 negative things? Oh, yeah. I think that I should.

1. Trying to pronounce things in Korea. (When I think that I've mastered a word, there's always someone who doesn't understand what the hell I'm saying.)
2. The poor sanitation
3. The air pollution
4. Being treated like a freak because I have the whole male pattern baldness thang going on.
5. Xenophobia
6. Getting burned out on Korean food
7. The lack of wildlife - I went up to Sorack San (however it's spelled) in Sokcho. In seven hours, I saw one chipmunk; that's it. Where are all the animals? Were people starving during the Korean war, so people ate everything?
8. Shady hagwon owners.
9. Wild drunken foreigners.
10. The fashion! Horizontal striped shirts, guys with eighties hair, and freakin' Micky Mouse plastered everywhere!

Yes. That IS my kitchen in Seoul. Note the lack of oven, and the common two burner stove with a small grill underneath. My kitchen at home had an oven, of course! Haha, but yeah, it is pretty sweet. Anyway, we've established that I wasn't lying.

As for transport, yes, I agree about Seoul's being excellent. Cleaner and more reliable than Montreal's for sure. I was in London for a week, and using the tube every day (was staying with a friend out in Zone 4). Though I haven't used it as much as the subway in Seoul, London's is way overpriced! If I had to choose between the two, I'd take Seoul's over London's, at least with the current pricing, but possibly even if they were the same price. Anyway, they're both good systems. Why do we have to rank them? It's a matter of opinion. Some people might prefer one, some might prefer the other. The point is that Seoul has some pretty good public transport, and that the good public transit is one of the pluses of living here in Seoul.

I agree with that.

Korean women have the best legs in the world.

Would anyone argue with that?
