Are sugar substitutes still unavailable in Korea? Did a quick search and it still seems like they're unavailable for sale here. Can't believe there is no equal or splenda in any of these ubiquitous coffee shops catering to weight-obsessed girls. How else are we supposed to fit into our cute little jeans?

I've seen Equal in some Starbucks, but it's not sitting out, you have to ask for it. (If they have it, there's a little sign somewhere near the register...)

Costco sells boxes of Equal!

If you look in the sugar section of any large-ish grocery store you can find (I think it's called) "Fine Sweet." I'll check tomorrow at work. It's a no-calorie sweetener.

omg.. splenda is BAD S.HIET. I even did a unit with my summerschool highschool students on why its so bad and made them debate the pros and cons of splenda vs sugar. splenda hasn't undergone longterm tests, it's been correlated with brain tumors and seizures, it has the same chemical structure as DDT and other such poisons. google it.

Oh yeah. That stuff is nasty. I'm waiting until they come out with proven information about the long term effects it has on the body.

To fit in your jeans, exercise often and watch your nutritional intake. There's no magic cure out there.

Exercise, water, good food, and rest. It just takes some effort.

Why is it that when someone asks a simple question, people start preaching? She didn't ask about the health risks, she didn't ask about how to lose weight, she asked if anyone knows where to buy Splenda.

The sell mega-boxes of Equal (for me, a 2-year supply) at Costco.

http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp

Yadda yadda Splenda's fine yadda yadda bunk claims, reactionism, etc. etc.

Anyway, Splenda's good stuff. I have a bunch of extra Splenda -- like, two huge bags I brought from America -- that I probably won't use. We'll see come Feburary. Smile

Because I care a lot about this topic, which I learned about at Simon Fraser University here in BC, not through a 'hoax email,' and because the OP may not be aware of the health risks. Giving another human being advice that may affect their wellbeing is not preaching. She/he can do whatever they want with the info.

hear hear!

The stuff I mentioned IS called "Fine Sweet." I don't know what's in it, but it's 1/5 the calories of sugar. 4cal per gram, and I've got a 200g package. You only need a tiny bit to make things sweet. Oh - from the back of the package - it says 1g equals 5g of sugar.

Thanks Jellypah, I was looking for a sugar alternative myself for my coffee as all that white sugar does contribute to your body weight. I believe it means the difference between being slim and being 20 pounds over weight. And now... How do you get the alcohol effect with 0 calories or at least very low calories?

I searched Homeplus and E-mart, but couldn't find any sugar substitute. Where can you get this Fine Sweet or something else?
