If your computer is not completely messed up, I'd suggest that you download one of the free anti-virus programs (avast!, AVG, Panda etc.) and see if you can get rid of the virus by yourself.
You may have to download the program by using another computer. In this case bring the software to the infected computer in USB memory, update the virus definition files and scan the computer. |

I just had an experience with the Dell tech support. You can call their customer service (English) and they could give you the info you require.
My new Dell 1520's integrated webcam works and then doesn't work. Ran the diagnostics and got 1 error code. Turned out to be the HD. Dell cam to my house and replaced the HD but said there was another problem. They took my computer for 2 days. Finally I begged for them to return it but still the webcam doesn't work. He says they have to replace the motherboard. "Why," I ask... "Because there's a problem." "Ok, what's the problem?" "I don't know." "Then why do you want to replace the motherboard?" "There's a problem." "Yes, but what is it?" "I don't know..." Very Abbot and Costello... |

I have a XPS M1710 that I bought a couple of years ago in the US. I transferred my 3 year warranty to Korea and never had any problems with the techs.
I work in IT so I know a few things about computers. Any ways, if a certain part or parts needs to be replaced, they would explain why.
Keep in mind that if you do get a tech who can speak English, his English skill is probably very limited. He/She might be able to tell you what part(s) needs to be replaced but they may not be able to explain to you in detail why. Be grateful they can speak some English.
Here's the number:

Much obliged for the number. |

Hmm, guess I could do that as a last resort. Don't have any way to set up safely in my apartment though, and no other place to go that I can think of. |
