Unless NZ uses CDMA (as Korea does) I don't think you can. Most countries use GSM networks with their own message centres. |

You can't do it on your Korean cellphone (well, I can't to the USA anyhow.. unless NZ is totally different and similar to Korea).
However, I use a website that allows me to send text messages to the States for free.. its through one of the phone companies there.
Perhaps its similar in NZ as well.. you can just send a cellphone text message through a webpage.
Anyhow, this is what i use to send text messages to the US if you want to see more or less what I mean..

Thanks - I got told it prob wouldn't work, but thought I'd ask anyway.
There is a web site in NZ that you can use to send texts over the net, I might try and use that. |

Yes, there are many. BUT you need a Korean national identity number to make any of them work. |

Cool,
Do you know any way to go online and do text messages for Canada?

I'm sure you can find them for both NZ & Canada.. do a search online.. probably free as well. The ATT I posted above for the US may very well work with Canada too. I believe ATT is in both countries.. so probably so.
Another (and even cooler) option is to have your friend at home connect their cellphone through Yahoo Messenger: http://mobile.yahoo.com/
If they do this then you can pull up their chat name on Yahoo Messenger and send a message. It'll notify them immediately on their cellphone as a text message. Even cooler is they can send a text message back through their cellphone to you on Yahoo Messenger.
Briefly I looked up NZ, OZ and Canada:
http://au.mobile.yahoo.com/sms/msgr/ for Oz & Nz. I didn't see anything on the Yahoo Canada for mobiles.. but the US Yahoo would probably have the same effect. Just curious.. between US & Canada do you have to dial international numbers or just dial an area code and go right through? If there aren't country codes between Canada/US.. then you shouldn't have any problem using the US services. (Seems like the ones I've seen are designed for 10-digit numbers only). |
