Would you take a job working Monday to Friday from 1pm-5pm (4 hours a day) at a rate of 30,000 an hour? |

Depending on the other conditions, yes.
Often for many F2s, those are "dead hours". If you can fill then with a sub-standard rate, and you enjoy the job, why not? |

IMO, morning and evening jobs are "prime time" = 50,000+ |

50,000 per 50 minute lesson MINIMUM. Never settle for less than that regardless of dead hours or not. You should settle for less that 50k only in consideration of a larger payoff elsewhere (ie; referrals). I took one job at 40k but it has since led me to 2 different jobs at 100k each. |

I should also add that I only have 6 months teaching experience at a hogwon.
It was awful. No housing, 2.5 mil, 9 hours a day, very few breaks, and mostly kindergarten kids. I didn't know any better when I came here.
This job seems good and they seem honest. They met my husband and he seems to think the guy was honest.
I just wasn't sure about the rate. It seemed low but at the same time it is 4 hours in a row at the same place each day. No travel. =)
Thanks for all the advice... I am still new to having the wonderful F2 Visa. |

I would for several reasons.
yes, 30,000 is low. I wouldnt go to a job like this if it was just one hour, or even two. But this is 4 hours a day, working out to 120,000 a day or 600,000 a week or about 2.6 a month. Thats not bad. Get some morning work and you will finish up just in time to score some nice late afternoon/evening work in companies. Also depends on the location, especially good would be somewhere in the business districts, Kangnam being the best.
Provided you cant find anything better. How hard have you looked? |

It is near Gangnam and pretty close to my house.
I went to meet 6 different schools. This seems like the best. So I guess I didn't look too hard. |

I say go for it. Close to your house, so thats awesome. Its right in the heart of the business district that has a ton of morning and evening work. And its a big block, so you make good money. You can always quit if you find soemthing better but its better than nothing. |

Marry a Korean.
You dont need any permission from MoE. Corprations are not under MoE's juridiction.
Part time work doesnt get you medical ins. Op didnt mention if this job would offer it. |

The school still needs to take my degree to the Education office, but immigration doesn't need to know where I am working.
I don't get medical or any other benefits... but I am covered for medical under my husband because I only work part-time. |

Aye, for a school, mid-afternoon, those are decent rates.
Take it if it is convenient for you. |
