I just posted here a couple of days ago. I'm new to the forum and asked about the TESL certificate. Is there a specific reason that no one wants to help me? It seems as though there are many teachers here, but why no help in this subject? just wondering if someone can shed some light
thanks |

My specific reason is that I don't really know. What other specific reason could there be? |

Not everybody looks at every post ... the lack of response was probably nothing personal. Have you checked the FAQ forum? It's kind of an old topic. |

The reason is because people don't really come on to this forum to help each other. |

As I said in my original post I have a TESL certificate from a private school here in Toronto, my wife says it would be better to get one from a college or University. We are planning to move to Korea around May and was wondering if I can take a TESL program in Korea instead of wasting more time here in Canada to get a new one. Does it matter where exactly I got it from? whether it was from a private school or a college? because I would rather not wait here any longer, I'd like to get out of here and be there, if you know what I mean.
thanks |

1. Post on the job related forum, not on general discussion.
2. do a google search with your topic, plus eslcafe in your search words, and old discussions on your topic will magically appear.
3. what's your question? |

Didn't see your OP.
You'll have to wait until Dec. for a difinitive answer...
but, there is probably no need do the course again; the one you have should be okay. |

Might be the avatar.
When I'm at work I have to scroll past those

Personally, I ignored you because you're Canadian. |

In Korea it won't matter where your TESL cert comes from as long as it was 100 hours or longer.
Hakwons don't care.
Universities want more.
Public schools only require a 100 hour course. |

Since when do public schools require TESL cerification? Did they change the standard 4 year degree and breathing, standing upright visa rules? |

Ttompatz means that public schools only require a 100-hour course in order to move up a level. Merely a Bachelors degree is required for the lowest level. |

Just checking. With all the new regs coming down the pipe, and with this being Korea...well, you just never know. |
