You're telling me that nullifying habeas corpus is worth it to get at some radicalist Islamists? Puuuuuuuulease.

Come on, blase, habeas corpus has only been a cornerstone of Anglo-American jurisprudence since the Magna Carta of 1265. You mean you've gotten used to it already?

And let us also not forget that it was under Clinton that habeas corpus received its first serious blow when he signed into law the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1995.

Republocrat, anyone?

The US is still one of the most free and tolerant nations in the world.

We're number 8! We're number 8! Hooray!
(Ben Franklin just stuck a quilled pen in his ear)

Well that is pretty good especially since the US is at war.

The US is often at war in modern day history.
World War 2 41-45, Cold War 47-89, Korea 51-53, Vietnam 61-74? Gulf War 91, War on Terror 01-07. That leaves 12 years in past 62 that US was not at war.
Not to mention the other conflicts or overthrows.... Lebanon, Grenada, Iran, Chile, Somali, etc
I am not trying to say that some of these conflicts are not just, I am only saying that if we took away Americans freedoms every time we were at war we would have no freedom left.
