I live in Seoul and I fostered a dog from Daejeon (I've just found out about the extension by reading this thread which is wonderful news)! I fostered mainly because I wanted to save a life (the shelter was to close last week orignially) but I don't want to have her too long - I'm trying to get her adopted because she's ready for a permanent home...she's a wonderful dog!! Please check out my post (in the adoptable animals thread), PM ,me if interested or spread the word...she deserves to have her permanent home asap Smile

I know you're probably in a hurry to place her in a home but make sure the person who is taking her is a good person and that they are planning on keeping her. Otherwise, she's only going to end back in another shelter in a few more months. That's not fair to the dog.

I've had my dog for about a month and a half (which I got from Daejeon) and she's still not fully adjusted to being here. It's unfair to keep shuffling dogs around from home to home and back to shelters.

Yeah, believe me that's the last thing I would let happen, that's why I've chosen to start looking now so I'm sure to find her the best 'permanent' home...I wouldn't have taken her in the first place if she was going to end up back in a shelter/temporary home, nor invested my time and money. I may only be fostering her, but her future is my upmost priority, like you.

If you foster a dog....generally how long do you look after it for?
I realise it will vary depending on finding an owner...but is there a ballpark?

We fostered a family of cats...we had them for 6-8 weeks.

It generally depends on the person. Usually it's a couple months. You get them taken care of and healthy. If it's a dog, try to get them housebroken and then you find a permanent home for them.
