i'm a bit of a mobile phone fan and I thought that Korea would naturally get all the best Samsung/LG phones before the rest of the world. However, looking round the shops here I've noticed that several really cool phones are available in other countries but not here. For example:

The Samsung G600: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_g600-2039.php
The Samsung G800: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_g800-2145.php
The LG viewty: http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_ku990_viewty-2070.php

Why is this? Do these companies have different marketing strategies for different countries? Do Koreans require different things from their phones? Just seems a little bizarre.

I'm getting this phone before the Meizu phone comes out.

There's also this :

- Samsung M4650 (http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2007/11/133_13081.html)

I think there are differences in requirements, as the European market is way more demanding and competitive than Asia. Most technophiles demand no less than a 5mp camera, mp3/wma playback, mms and even video playback.

Note also how phones in Asia are so much more expensive than elsewhere. We can get $0 Nokia N95 as long as we pay the $40 monthly phone charges for a year or so. In Asia, expect to pay full for just the phone alone. I've been guilty of paying way too much for phones of which I'm sure many people have too.

Because mom nags them at home to stop playing.
