i asked this question in another post about a different question, and didn't get a response....

I read about you guys going back and fourth from korea to japan...in one instance to pick up trance CD's...

How difficult to travel back and fourth between east asia, and what from of transportation do you use? How much does it cost? And how long does it take?

From South Korea? To go anywhere except for Japan (3 hour ferry from Busan to Fukuoka, I believe) you have to fly. Usually it still makes more sense to fly to Japan (about a two hour flight from Seoul to Tokyo, I think).

How long? Obviously it depends on where you're going, but to from Seoul to....

Beijing - 2 hours
Hong Kong - 3 hours
Thailand - 4 hours
Taiwan - 5 hours

You can take a ferry to China from Incheon, but it takes over fifteen hours to get there, so for most people it's not really worth the few hundred bucks you save.

The cost of these flights will vary for any number of reasons, but generally it will be $300-600 USD for round trip flights.

For rail and ferry packages to Japan, and ferry trips to China it's about 200,000 won (about $160 USD).

Actually, there are also ferries that go from Incheon to 5 or 6 different ports in China and also to Russia. Ticket prices vary depending on where you go, I recall some of the fares to China were about 300 000, give or take. It also took about 20 hrs to get there.
