A fabulous example of late German Expresionism. Peter Lorre is appropriately creepy, and this is maybe Fritz Lang's masterpiece. See also Metropolis and the Nibelungen cycle. |

Not quite sure why this topic is in "General Discussion" but...
Yes, it's a stunner and Lorre is unforgettable. I think a lot of stuff(camera angles, shadows, etc.) that Welles got credit for was actually done first by Lang in "M". |

I think the OP is talking about a Korean movie on at the moment. |

Yeah, another example of the use of this expressionistic cinematography apears in a big way in Touch of Evil. And yeah, I'm sure the OP is referring to a new Korean film, but when do I get to discuss Welles and Lang on this otherwise misbegotten message board? |

I actually wondered if the Korean film was some sort of backhanded tribute to the original, but after seeing the previews, that's a definite no. Some sort of sappy hard to understand love story according to some students. |

Well, I'll stick to the 1920s "M"!
Reading Ebert's review made me think: no wonder the Nazis were courting him. Considering how he portrayed the characters in "M", can you imagine what he could've done w/anti-Semitic propaganda? |

I saw the poster when I was in town on the weekend. It looked almost like they were trying to reference the original movie "M"
That would be strange though because I seriously doubt anyone other than a few foreigners knows what it is. |

I liked the Story of O much, much better. Hmm, German Expressionist cinema vs. cheesy 70's porn. No comparison really. Wasn't Johnny Holmes in that? |
