I hope this is a mistake: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=27557

48 teaching hours a week, staff meetings every morning, must participate in weekend activities, you must surrender your return flight ticket once you arrive, AND you have to pay the recruiter $100? I hope nobody is stupid enough to actually work here

Well... the thing is - whilst most camps pay 2.5-3m for 4 weeks with similar working hours, they do not pay airfare.

Taking into account airfares, you are paid around 1.1m.

But no one who is already in Korea will give this any serious thought.

Still, I can't imagine people actually wanting to teach 47 or 48 hours a week for only $250/week (even less if you only work 2 weeks of the camp).

If people wnat to teach for that kind of money then good luck....

What strikes me is even more stupid is you have to pay $100 membership fee to join with the recruiter. That is a red flag right there....

I think if anyone already in Korea accepts a position like this, they are doing the rest of us a disservice... but for someone from outside the country and looking to do a camp here..it might not be all bad.

Contract or no contract, anyone trying to take my property (any ticket in my name IS my property) will have a fight on their hand. I'm fired? Oh darn, I'm already here. Thanks for the ticket over. Smell ya later.

Without looking it up, can I assume it's similar to a chocolate pretzel? (Thank you Kevin Smith!)

I didn't even know about winter camps before now, I thought only the summer ones were popular. I'd be interested if there was round trip airfare provided with a DECENT salary on top of that - but I'm probably getting my hopes up, huh?

the recruiter (a mr. kim) i've been working with trying to get a job at
st. andrews in ilsan said he could help me get a job at that camp but i would have to open a seperate bank account and give him the passbook, card and pin #. sounds like a great deal.

there's a reason the company is BEGGING for people to do this - it's a CRAP job! it's "no cost to you"?!!! you don't consider 40+ hours a week for 4 weeks to be worth anything? you won't have an 'authentic' korean experience being stuck in the middle of nowhere for a month... if you want to teach at a camp, do it in your home country! if you want to experience korea, buy a ticket (you'll be paying for one regardless) and visit on your OWN terms!

please please please DON'T take this job!
